Quickbooks uses Sybase's Adaptive Server Anywhere (ASA) database backend and if there is any data corruption, the Adaptive Server Anywhere database engine crashes in memory and stops working. Quickbooks can no longer open the database in such cases and the data file needs to be recovered.

Quickbooks Data Recovery is possible usign the transaction log file (TLG). Do not delete the .TLG file as it is critical in the recovery of the data file.
